Key Responsibilities:

- Provide hands-on engineering support to maintenance and operations teams.

- Develop innovative solutions to technical challenges, ensuring equipment and processes are optimized for safety and efficiency.

- Analyze equipment data to pinpoint opportunities for improvement and implement system upgrades.

- Lead capital and maintenance projects from inception to completion, driving improvements in production processes.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems, implement solutions, and ensure smooth operations.

 

Qualifications:

 

Basic:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

- Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience.

- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.

 

Preferred:

- Expertise in ladder logic and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming, particularly Rockwell and Allen Bradley systems.

- Experience with DC and AC motor drives systems.

- Proficiency in troubleshooting, networking equipment, and automation communication systems.

- Background in power distribution systems and metals manufacturing, ideally aluminum processing.

- Experience working with rolling mills, metal process furnaces, and related equipment.

- Strong problem-solving skills, data analysis, and project management experience.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Your Role:

As a Controls Technician, you will be the go-to person for maintaining and troubleshooting the electrical and control systems on shift. You will:

- Work with PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, GuardLogix), HMIs, and a variety of plant floor systems including vision systems, robots, and instrumentation.

- Troubleshoot control components like valves, motors, and measurement systems.

- Serve as a technical resource, providing support and training to operations and maintenance teams.

- Document changes in systems and processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

 

 Qualifications:

Required:

- High School Diploma with 5+ years of plant technical experience, or 3+ years with a 2-year technical degree.

- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, including ladder logic.

- Familiarity with electrical schematics and NEC regulatory requirements.

- Availability for shift work and occasional weekends.

 

Preferred:

- Experience with Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform, Microsoft SQL databases, and basic LAN concepts.

- CAD drawing skills are a plus!
