Position Overview:

As an Electrical and Controls Engineer II, you’ll provide critical plant technical support, lead capital projects, and serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and optimizing electrical systems. From start to finish, you’ll manage a wide range of industrial electrical and control system projects—developing plans, engineering designs, cost estimates, and ensuring successful project execution. You’ll also guide operations and maintenance teams, defining and implementing proactive solutions for power and control systems, while ensuring top-notch performance and safety standards.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

- Expertise in electrical control systems engineering for plant support and project management.

- Proven ability to develop and review technical specifications, manage projects, and oversee supplier and contractor activities.

- Strong communication skills for reporting project status, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating with internal teams.

- Hands-on experience with DCS, Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI applications, and networked control systems.

- Solid project management abilities, successfully handling multiple projects with budgets ranging from $50k - $2MM.

- Familiarity with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards, along with a drive for continuous improvement.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

- Provide electrical control systems engineering support across projects and plant operations.

- Manage and execute project plans, including vendor selection, budget management, and training of plant personnel.

- Solve complex technical problems and support plant operations with root cause analysis and maintenance plans.

- Oversee safety initiatives and ensure compliance with industry standards.

- Collaborate with external engineering teams and manage third-party contractors to deliver successful projects.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in control systems engineering in a manufacturing environment.

- Experience managing electrical power distribution systems and implementing safety initiatives.

 

Preferred Requirements:

- Experience with high-voltage power distribution systems (480V - 13,800V).

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Develop, design, maintain, and commission automation and control systems for Industrial Equipment.

·         Design and program logic for PLCs, drive systems, and combustion control systems.

·         Develop SCADA and operator interface applications.

·         Design databases and write custom computer programs for PLC and SCADA system interface.

·         Apply standard procedures to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnose and resolve issues.

·         Create project manuals and electrical schematics using CAD.

·         Develop scope of work, cost estimates and budgets for electrical systems.

·         Develop an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of SCR systems such as fluid systems, operations, metallurgy, maintenance, material handling, furnace systems, and hands on machine operation.

·         Assist with on-site commissioning of all parts of an SCR system.

·         This individual transfer know-how to SCR customers through training, discussions, presentations, and startup assistance.

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

 

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field is required.

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience (compensation will be based on experience) in the chemical or manufacturing industry, such as Industrial processing equipment, instrumentation and control, AC and DC drives, PLC’S, combustion systems, design, maintenance and/or operation.

·         Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC and drive experience.

·         CAD experience with AutoCAD.

·         SCADA system and HMI application experience.

·         Computer programming, networking, database, and reporting skills.

·         Ability to develop and maintain in-depth, up-to-date technical knowledge, and to develop into technical resource and subject matter expert.

What you’ll do:

 

·         Design, provisioning, bespoke programming for new sites (when new applications are required)

Pay Range

$129,200.00-$177,700.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

Sr. Principal Environmental Controls Engineer


Our client is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sr. Principal Environmental Controls Engineer. Strong preference is for this individual to be based out of our Littleton Technical Center however for the right skill and ability there may be flexibility to be based elsewhere.

The purpose of the Senior Principal Environmental Controls Engineer role will be to provide engineering discipline and technical leadership in environmental equipment engineering, optimizing operation of abatement equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement, contributing to resolving environmental issues that may arise, and developing technical strategy for existing or future our client production lines.

Relocation assistance is available for those who qualify under our relocation policy.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Applying appropriate control technologies to improve environmental aspects of existing or future production lines, focus heavily on air emissions.

  • Contributing to our clients teams to ensure lines are operated in compliance with permits, primarily related to control device or abatement system technical operation.

  • Developing and maintaining parametric limits and monitoring requirements.

  • Provide technical expertise to plants and Corporate Environmental in establishing plans for new permit applications (State and Federal, new permits or re-permitting, whether minor construction permits, PSD permits, Title V operating permit renewals, etc.)

  • Frequent interface with personnel from Plants, corporate (Division, Process, Capital, Technology SMEs, Project, Environmental), vendors, consultants, and sometimes with regulatory agencies.

  • Applying disciplined approach to leading or contributing to complex environmental and operational issues, in a cross-functional organization.

  • Establishing best practices in environmental engineering calculations.

  • Providing expertise on operations and maintenance of existing abatement equipment.

  • Providing guidance on existing or future production and environmental equipment, recurring issues, or complex problems relating to environmental aspects, including:

o   Scope, operation, documentation, modeling, maintenance, limitations, instrumentation, data retention, controls, heat recovery, waste minimization.

o   Triage issues with specific production lines and abatement equipment.

o   Identify long term solutions to cost-effectively control emissions from new and existing lines in a way that maximizes operational flexibility of the operating lines.

o   Understanding implications of existing and upcoming regulations and BACT. In turn, establish viable strategic and technical approaches for existing or future production lines.

o   May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science, with a minimum of 15 years of experience around continuous process manufacturing in environmental controls technologies with experience as a project, process, or design engineer for environmental controls

       o   Higher degree or multiple degrees is beneficial.

  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing new abatement equipment or in improvements to existing equipment.

  • Strong understanding of abatement equipment configuration for a range of abatement technologies, types, and applications, including their respective performance aspects, strengths and weaknesses, and their necessary support systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in proposing and justifying the most suitable choice between improving or replacing existing equipment, and in most-suitable equipment for new production lines.

o   Demonstrated experience must include having considered the means to address issues with existing equipment vs. application of various abatement technologies, their costs, supporting systems, net emission performance aspects in making recommendations, and similar.

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills including the ability to interact with a broad range of employees and disciplines such as machine operators, project engineering, capital engineering, legal, EH&S, finance, procurement, and plant operations.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills including complex data analysis.

  • Successful history of innovation and adaptability.

  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
