Job Description 

The Senior Accountant will oversee % Completion and all accounting/reconciliations for a project-based service group. This role requires a combination of analytical skills and a strong knowledge of accounting principles. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Project Management team and senior leadership to ensure financial success and timely, accurate reporting on all projects.

 

Key Responsibilities 

-          Complete month-end close tasks to ensure accruals are accurate and project accounting aligns with GAAP.

-          Maintain % of Completion accounting for the High Voltage Services Group.

-          Reconcile all project costs monthly against budget and lead spend/performance meetings with project management and senior leadership.

-          Perform project setup, closeout, and post-mortem financial reviews.

-          Report monthly on cost center variances and support corrective action initiatives.

-          Assist the Finance Manager in budgeting and forecasting for the Service groups.

-          Maintain the Forecast Accuracy Scorecard and support leadership in improving forecast accuracy processes.

-          Support internal and external audit requests.

-          Collaborate with Operations to complete Pro-forma and IRR calculations for capital requests.

-          Provide ad-hoc reporting for management decision-making.

 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills 

-          Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

-          Experience: Minimum 5+ years; 3+ with CPA certification

-          Skills: Strong/advanced Excel skills, excellent communication abilities, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

-          Preferred Skills: SAP or ERP experience, % Completion Accounting experience, CPA certification

 

Reports To: Manager, FP&A 

Travel: Domestic travel up to 25%

Responsible to work across the business to identify, track, analyze and document complex accounting issues. The role will have significant visibility to senior leadership and will work alongside many senior members of the accounting, finance, and business teams.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

·         Identify and assess technical accounting issues in complex business transactions and prepare technical memorandums.

·         Work closely with various business leaders to provide guidance on accounting transactions.

·         Assist in reviewing the Company's written accounting policies and providing guidance throughout the organization on the application of such policies.

·         Understand current changes to accounting standards, SEC guidance and PCAOB regulations.

·         Perform impact analysis of new accounting pronouncements (as needed) and lead implementation efforts across the Company.

·         Research and resolve technical accounting issues on a timely basis with the Company's external auditors.

·         Support the Company's external reporting function, ensuring that the financial statements and disclosures are in conformity with the accounting principles generally accepted in the US.

·         Assist with internal and external audits to ensure complete, timely, and accurate responses to information requests.

·         Assist deal teams with pre and post deal-closure activities namely, evaluating accounting implications on various acquisition and disposition transactions pre-close; post deal-close, work with the Corporate Development team and external consultant on performing purchase price accounting exercise.

·         Lead annual impairment analysis for all critical asset categories on the balance sheet i.e., goodwill, long-lived assets (PP&E, leases, intangibles), joint ventures, and other cost method investments.

·         Organize enterprise-wide quarterly trainings on various topics as it relates to US GAAP, internal controls, and SEC matters.

·         Perform other duties as needed.

 

This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in beautiful Hartsville, SC or Charlotte, NC and close to exciting destinations (Myrtle Beach, SC Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC). Open to Hybrid

Compensation:

 

The annual base salary range for this role is from $116,625.00 to $139,950.00.

 

An incentive bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and individual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader. This incentive bonus is discretionary, and the Company has sole discretion to determine the amount of the award.

Our company uses SAP S/4HANA v2020 and several other SAP products. As we continue to build out the SAP solutions to support the business, we are looking to fill the role of SAP Associate II FPSL, to assist in the implementation and ongoing support of SAP Financial Product Subledger (SAP FPSL) within S/4 HANA. The SAP team operates in a cross-functional team approach.

-         Active participation in the implementation and ongoing support of SAP FPSL including:

Required Experience:

o   Creating configuration changes or other relevant experience within finance related sub-modules

o   Working in a 3-tier landscape (development, quality, production)

-         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Information Technology

-         Experience working with IT systems, developers and business analysts during project implementation and testing stages

-         Experience writing functional/technical specifications

-         Knowledge of finance business processes and linkage to finance and non-finance systems

-         Strong skills in solving problems, analyzing data, prioritizing work

 

Preferred Experience:

-         GAAP Accounting knowledge 

-         SAP S/4 HANA version 2020 or later

-         Any one or more of the following SAP products

o   SAP Collections and Disbursements (FSCD)

-         At least one full-cycle S/4 implementation, S/4 migration, or S/4 upgrade project

-         Insurance Accounting, Finance, or related experience

-         Working in an agile environment utilizing user stories, minimum-viable product, and proto-typing
