Our team in Space and Defense - Power & Data is looking for a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join them. You will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and will have an onsite, with flexible work schedule in Blacksburg, Virginia.
To be considered for Lead Power Electronics Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
• Bachelor of Science degree in EE or similar
• 7 years of power electronics experience.
• Power converter circuit/arch. analysis
• Experience in control loop analysis
• Circuit simulation PSIM and MATLAB or similar
As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for circuit-level design, simulation, and troubleshooting to support power supply and inverter applications.
Applications are varied, from low-voltage, low-power Point of Load supplies for the electronics boards embedded in our products to high-power resonant converters for our next-generation Non-Contacting Power Transmission systems.
Applications range from 10W to 10kW+.; Current project portfolio includes High Efficiency Resonant architectures for wireless power transfer, Wide bandgap power converters in several AC/DC, DC/DC and bidirectional applications including Generator power Converter, Gimbal motor drive, etc.
· Direct small team on Power electronics projects.
· Read and interpret customer specifications and understand how the specification applies to the electronics
· Use thermal design skills to select component packages and design appropriate thermal interfaces
· Circuit design for electro-magnetic interference and susceptibility attenuation
· Select/analyze/test/document electronic component suitability to support new products and existing product lines.
· Design, simulate and prepares schematic design of circuitry for Power Electronics systems Magnetics design and evaluation (transformers, inductors)
· Develop prototype tests and the testing of prototype power electronics systems and controls which include (but not limited to):
· Provide field support and visit customers on an as needed basis.
· Work with CPES at Virginia Tech to stay on top of technology advancement
