Position Overview 

 

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to contribute to the design and execution of small and large-scale civil engineering projects. This full-time position, based in Mobile, AL, offers competitive compensation ($125–150K based on experience), full benefits, and career advancement opportunities. Relocation support may be available for eligible candidates. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

 

- Apply your knowledge of design and drafting standards to create effective solutions. 

- Collaborate on project scope, specifications, and design criteria. 

- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to identify efficient engineering approaches. 

- Produce detailed calculations, material take-offs, and preliminary designs for projects. 

- Ensure designs optimize materials and prioritize ease of construction while meeting client expectations. 

- Check calculations, drawings, and vendor submittals for accuracy and compliance. 

- Assist drafting teams in resolving layout and detailing challenges. 

- Lead interdisciplinary coordination to maintain project timelines and deliverables. 

- Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members. 

- Conduct fieldwork to gather data, verify tie-ins, and support construction activities. 

 

Ideal Background 

 

- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. 

- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required, though Engineer in Training (EIT) candidates may be considered if licensure is attainable within six months. 

- Experience: At least six years of civil-site engineering experience, ideally in an industrial setting. Experience in commercial, government, or infrastructure projects is also considered. 

 

Required Skills and Knowledge 

 

- Familiarity with standards like ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA, and NFPA. 

- Proficiency in civil stormwater analysis software (e.g., SSA, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS). 

- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience is a plus. 

- Strong technical and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. 

- Ability to lead teams, manage schedules, and execute projects within scope and budget.

What You Will Be Doing:


  • Prepare computer-aided and hand-take-off estimates for structural steel components.


  • Review vendor and sub-tier quotes to ensure compliance with contract documents.


  • Perform take-offs for various structural steel components and develop estimate summaries.


  • Identify and document specific requirements for projects, including buy-out items.


  • Assist in training Estimators-in-Training (EIT) positions.


What You Need for This Position:


  • 5+ years of experience in the structural steel industry in a similar role.


  • Strong knowledge of the steel fabrication and erection process.


  • Construction industry experience.


  • Ability to review contract drawings and specifications.


  • Proficient in using software such as Bluebeam, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
