Job Description

Summary: Responsible for developing and facilitating formalized technical training for customers in our regional offices on topics including, but not limited to: equipment installation, programming, troubleshooting, safety, maintenance, and repair. This position will develop and deliver training courses; develop course schedules, multimedia training aids & products including audio, video, animation, presentation, and sales collateral; maintain training records and online training systems; and continually adapt training methods to improve knowledge transfer and retention. The Regional Technical Trainer will be based out of our regional office in Chicago (Lisle), IL and will travel to other offices around the country, as needed, for trainings and workshops.

 

Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 60% of the time (a small amount of international travel is required). Normal business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate our customers’ schedules. The training course schedule may require some weekend sessions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:

·        Develop and conduct external technical training sessions for customers at our regional offices.

·        Develop and conduct tests to measure learning progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training.

·        Monitor progress of associates to ensure all training time is optimized to provide the most beneficial education within the allotted time frame.

·        Work with our training coordinator to create course schedules and manage course registrations.

·        Implement new training materials and methods including alternative forms of training (e.g. video, CD/DVD, web-based, etc.)

·        Ensure the classroom and the equipment in the Chicago Training Center are consistently kept in an orderly manner and maintained as needed.

·        Operate within annual training departmental budget.

·        Develop and host ongoing webinars, conduct system testing, and actively contribute to developing an online training presence and offering.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree in technical discipline or adult learning theory and at least three years experience developing and conducting hands-on technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to develop effective instructional media solutions.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts and details to a broad audience of associates and customers. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) applicants would be preferred.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by the position.
