Construction Field Safety Specialist

Location: Eugene, Oregon, United States

 

Job Description

In this role, you will work directly with construction crews and the transportation department to support and assist with company safety, health, and risk management programs. You'll monitor and reinforce safety best practices in various areas and play an integral part in reinventing the way the world is built.

Location: Eugene, OR, with frequent local travel to various jobsites.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Passionate about keeping employees safe.

  • Ability to cultivate a strong safety culture.

  • Comfortable speaking to diverse individuals and groups.

  • Prior demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction and/or transportation (1-2 Years).

  • Ability to navigate regulatory agency and industry-related web content.

  • Working knowledge of PC Programs and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, current authorization to work in the United States, and able to pass pre-employment controlled-substance testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30, CPR, and/or First Aid Certifications.

  • Certificate, Associate Degree, and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to OSHA for Construction, DOT/FMCSA, Confined Space, Trenching and Excavation, Fall Protection, and/or state and federal agency guidelines.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Support company safety programs for incident/injury prevention.

  • Assist with incident analysis and provide recommendations for risk reduction.

  • Lead and assist with various trainings, including new hire orientations, hazard awareness, and more.

  • Steward Human Performance philosophies, education, & growth strategies.

  • Support and promote company safety initiatives, including site safety audits, safety meetings, and strategic plans.

  • Conduct industrial hygiene testing, ergonomic assessments, and more.

  • Investigate occupational injuries, illnesses, equipment, and property damage.

  • Conduct safety training, project-specific safety training, and develop project-specific safety plans.

  • Coordinate and schedule annual safety training and lead on-site safety committee meetings.

  • Manage and monitor employee engagement programs.

  • Maintain PPE/Safety Inventory within budget.

  • Regularly and timely attendance.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

Wage: Starting at $27+/hr DOE w/ Potential for Overtime
