Position Summary:  

Reporting to the Nursing Director, the position utilizes the nursing process and organizational/leadership skills to coordinate services of staff to patients during the designated shift. Assures patient care is appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served. Assesses staff need for the unit, collaborates with the Nurse Director, and Nursing Supervisor to ensure patients needs are met. 

Position Qualifications:  

Minimum Education:  

·        Associate Degree in Nursing 

·        BSN and/or MSN Degree or related field preferred  

Minimum Experience/Skills:  

·        Minimum of three (3) years progressive management experience in the field of expertise  

·        Minimum of five (5) years experience in an acute care setting  

·        Ability to communicate effectively in English; both verbally and in writing  

·        Ability to deal with multiple priorities and short time frames  

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:  

·        Current California RN license  

·        Current BLS certification for Health Care Providers (AHA certified) 

·        Current ACLS certification (AHA certified) 

·        Current PALS or ENPC Certification (AHA certified) 

·        Current CPI card – Nonviolent Crises Intervention Training  

·        CEN preferred 

Age-Specific Care Requirements:  

·        Knowledge and understanding of differences in care requirements for the newborn (0 to 30 days), infant (31 days to 1 year), pediatric (1 to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 70 years), and geriatric (71+ years) and modify nursing care as appropriate
